Unlock Incentives for Multifamily New Construction Projects

Greater Phoenix multifamily builders and developers can participate in either the ENERGY STAR® pathway or HERS/ERI pathways to secure incentives for each residential unit through SRP’s Multifamily New Construction (MFNC) Program. In addition, rebates are available for MFNC projects with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and energy-efficient upgrades to the commercial buildings.

About SRP’s ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Program

SRP’s ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Program is designed to reduce energy usage in multifamily buildings while improving comfort, indoor air quality and durability.

The program promotes energy efficiency in new residential construction with financial incentives, technical training, and sales and marketing support for homebuilders. Builders and developers can earn an incentive for each new residential unit that meets the eligibility requirements.

Plus, building above code improves durability, adds comfort and lowers costs for residents, giving you a competitive edge.

Projects can qualify under ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Guidelines Versions 1.1 or 1.2.* Additional incentives are available for projects in designated disadvantaged communities.

Rebate details

All ENERGY STAR multifamily buildings must demonstrate energy savings of at least 10% over their state’s energy code using an Energy Rating Index (ERI) score, ASHRAE 90.1 model or U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's prescriptive energy efficiency features. Buildings must also include mandatory efficiency measures related to lighting and HVAC controls for common spaces, central systems and garages.

Incentives are available per residential unit when your project meets ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Version 1.1 or 1.2* Guidelines.

Rebate details for HERS/ERI Pathway

All HERS/ERI Pathway multifamily buildings as defined by the EPA must achieve an average HERS Index score of 60 or lower. Minimum 90% LED lighting used in buildings and units, ENERGY STAR appliances (except washer and dryer), and WaterSense or equivalent bath fixtures are also required to participate. This pathway does not require prescriptive performance thresholds, instead the projects' eligibility is determined by its HERS or ERI score.
