From the bathroom to the backyard, when it comes to conserving water in your household, small changes can make a big difference. The biggest savings could come from finding and repairing leaks, both inside and out.

    Water-saving tips for the whole house

    Pool

    Use a cover to reduce evaporation, increase safety and keep your pool cleaner. 

    Primary bathroom

    Install a WaterSense® labeled shower head to conserve at least 20% and shorten showers by 2 minutes to save up to 150 gallons a month. 

    Bathroom

    Test your toilets for leaks at least once a month. 

    Laundry room

    Install a water and energy-saving washing machine and only run full loads.

    Backyard

    Landscape with low-water-use plants to provide shade and cool your yard. See the shade tree program

    Kitchen

    Purchase an ENERGY STAR® dishwasher, only run full loads, and avoid handwashing. 

    Front yard

    Install a WaterSense® labeled smart irrigation controller.
