The 14th annual Water Conservation Expo is being held virtually this year with three dates to choose from - March 13, March 16 and March 18. Hear from water professionals and get water conservation tips.

About the Expo

The SRP Water Expo brings together members of our community, virtually, to celebrate water in the Valley and discover ways to conserve at home.

Smart irrigation controllers

Virtual Expo attendees have the option to purchase online (details below) either a Hunter Pro-HC with Hydrawise or a Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler controller.

*Participant is responsible for sales tax on a price of $130 for the Hunter controller and $160 Rachio controller from Ewing Irrigation.

Purchasing

After registering, attend the virtual expo and instructions will be provided on how to purchase a controller online through Ewing, at discounted prices. The SRP instant rebate will be applied.

All controllers purchased online will be available for pickup at a Ewing location (see map below) by presenting a valid receipt (email confirmation). Curbside pickup is available, please contact Ewing location when you arrive. All orders must be picked up by March 27, 2021. Orders not picked up will be cancelled.

Customer may only purchase one of the two available discounted controller options and there is a limit of one controller per household.

Water Expo webinar dates, times and agenda

Each Water Expo webinar will include an introduction from SRP, Hunter, Rachio and Ewing, along with vendor spotlight presentations which are different for each day.

Saturday March 13, 9 - 10 a.m.

  • Surface Water Resources. Learn about the strategies and practices SRP uses to maintain a resilient and reliable water supply.
  • Canal Multiple Use. Discover the unique history of our canal system and how SRP continues to work with communities to make them a valued source of joy, recreation and water.
  • Liberty Wildlife. Hear about the importance of keeping our reservoirs, lakes and canals clean for Arizona's birds and animals from Liberty Wildlife, a not-for-profit wildlife conservation, rehabilitation and educational entity.

Tuesday March 16, Noon - 1 p.m.

  • Measurement service. Explore how Arizona's water and snow is monitored and measured. You'll discover how these key indicators can help predict the Valley's water total today and in the future.
  • Water - Use It Wisely. Learn about the Water Conservation Campaign's positive impact on educating Valley residents on the importance of water conservation.
  • Arizona Nursery Association. Hear from experts on Arizona’s Nursery efforts, desert habitat and nature conservation.

Thursday March 18, 6 - 7 p.m.

  • Historian. Dive into SRP's history as a water and power provider and discover how the company's innovative spirit helped shape Arizona and the West since its founding in 1903.
  • Trees Matter. Trees don't just look pretty; they supply oxygen and shade. Join Trees Matter, a local non-profit, as they discuss their mission to inspire and promote an increased tree canopy in the Valley.
  • Watershed Management Group. Hear from the nonprofit Watershed Management Group who will provide information on Arizona’s watershed, improving desert ecosystem and getting communities involved in maintaining a sustainable livelihood.

Pre-recorded training videos

Each training video link below provides information on how to install irrigation controllers and addresses frequently asked questions about the programming. Irrigation 101 answers and addresses all common irrigation questions and goes over irrigation basics and is not specific to a controller.

  • Hunter Smart Irrigation Controller: In this class, you’ll learn how to set up your controller, configure your app, and connect to your Wi-Fi network. You will understand the different watering options available and see how your system uses the world’s most accurate local weather data to fine-tune irrigation according to site needs. Finally, you will learn how irrigation or landscape contractors can enable remote system monitoring for ultimate peace of mind.
  • Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller: This class will provide instruction on installing the Rachio controller, zone configurations and schedule types. Additionally, you'll receive training on the Rachio app and how to update settings from your phone.
  • Irrigation 101: Whether you plan on doing it yourself or hire a professional, this class can help you learn what to look for and the questions to ask before you start. Learn about key irrigation components, features, benefits and applications. (Note: this class does not cover flood irrigation.)
