Low-cost tips to help you save on your energy bill

Reduce your carbon footprint and save on energy costs with these simple low- or no-cost suggestions.

    1. Lighting

Install occupancy sensors that automatically turn lights on and off in areas like conference rooms, break rooms and offices

    2. Heating and Cooling

Use a smart thermostat to adjust the temperature for occupied and unoccupied hours. Each degree warmer/cooler can save 2%–3%.

    3. Water heating

Many businesses only need hot water for hand washing. Lower the temperature on your water heater as low as 105 F and save.

    4. Building enclosures

Keep energy dollars from escaping by repairing cracks around windows and doors with new caulking or weather stripping.

    5. Office energy savings

Even sleep mode uses energy. Implement smart power strips to turn off monitors, printers and other equipment when they’re inactive.
