Unacceptable SES locations

The information below can also be found in the Electric Service Specifications section 9-6.

For reasons of public safety and maintenance of service, it is not permissible to install SES equipment as follows:

  1. In locations that are not readily accessible.
  2. Within substations or transformer vaults containing SRP transformers and equipment.
  3. In locations hazardous to personnel.
  4. On surfaces subject to excessive vibration.
  5. Inside rest, bath, shower, powder or toilet rooms.
  6. In an elevated or depressed area that does not have access provided by means of a ramp or clear stairway of normal tread and rise in conformance to building code requirements.
  7. In an unsanitary area in reference to farm animals and products.
  8. On SRP poles or other SRP facilities.
  9. Within twenty (20) ft. of any gas pump and within ten (10) ft. of any gas storage tank, fill spout and/or vent.
  10. Within 36" of any gas meter vent.
  11. Within parking structure, unless approved by Distribution Design.

Accessible SES locations

The information below can also be found in the Electric Service Specifications section 1-6. The following term, when used herein, shall have the meaning specified.

  • Readily accessible: Capable of being reached directly, without obstruction at any time. A direct (without bends) unobstructed access to the Service Entrance Section shall be provided and maintained that is a minimum 12 ft. wide and 20 ft. high, suitable for line construction equipment. A bend in the access route is allowed if the width is increased to 20 ft. A customer-provided and maintained removable screen wall, panel or door, with a minimum width of 20 ft., may be used as an architectural feature, provided the access route complies with the requirements listed above.
