SRP supports pool fencing project
Pool barriers are a key factor in the prevention of child drownings, which is why SRP has partnered with the United Phoenix Firefighters Association and Valley of the Sun United Way to support the Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program.
The Adopt-a-Pool-Fence program provides funding for pool fences for families that have young children but are financially unable to afford fencing. Eligible families are chosen by a committee and must have at least one child under the age of 6, own their home and be in financial need.
SRP has participated in the Adopt-a-Pool-Fence program since 2001. So far, pool fences have been installed for hundreds of families who otherwise could not afford to do it on their own.
SRP's support of Adopt-a-Pool-Fence is just one component of its commitment to drowning prevention. Each year, SRP partners with Phoenix Children's Hospital's Water Safety Day, the American Red Cross' Water Wiz Program and Valley fire departments to educate the community about the danger of pools without barriers and general water safety.
SRP promotes safety initiatives through SRP Safety Connection, a multi-faceted program including event participation, the distribution of educational safety information and public presentations.
The Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program is sponsored by United Phoenix Firefighters Association, SRP Safety Connection, Valley of the Sun United Way and Iron Man Pools.
