Time-of-Use Price Plan

Time-of-Use is part of the SRP PowerWise portfolio that helps you save money, time and energy.

Get a limited time offer. Every day.The Time-of-Use Plan is for residential customers who use 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity or more during the summer months and who can shift their usage to off-peak hours.

It rewards you for washing your dishes, cleaning your pool and doing your laundry during times of the day when electricity costs are lower.

With Time-of-Use, electricity is priced at two levels, depending on the time of day. Prices are lower during off-peak hours and higher during on-peak hours. Switching to this price plan saves the typical customer an average of 7% off their annual bill.

Time-of-Use Plan for business customers is also available.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can this plan save you money if you are not home during the day?
  • Yes. If you're gone during the day, you already use less electricity during higher-cost, on-peak periods. Don't leave your air conditioner or heater on all day at the usual temperature. You might also consider installing a programmable thermostat, which will automatically change temperature settings when you're not home.
  • How will you know if you're saving money?
  • Each month your electric bill will state the amount you saved on the Time-of-Use Price Plan. Remember, you'll save the most during the hottest summer months.
  • What if you are not saving money on the plan?
  • If you aren't realizing savings on the Time-of-Use Price Plan, first review the tips for saving with the Time-of-Use price plan. If you want to get off the plan, you can switch back to the Basic Plan by using our online price plan sign-up form, or calling us at (602) 236-8888. Once you return to the Basic Plan, you will not be able to return to Time-of-Use for one year.
  • What if you don't live here year-round?
  • If you do not live in the Phoenix area during the summer months, your annual usage probably won't be high enough to make up for the higher monthly service charge on this plan.

Meter access

The special Time-of-Use meter records the time and amount of electricity used, and requires several manual functions to be performed at the meter by SRP personnel each month. This ensures you will be billed properly. Our meter readers will need to enter your yard to read the meter.

SRP meter readers must have unrestricted access to the meter for our employees' safety. To help protect our field employees from unexpected potential hazards, SRP requires that the meter not be located behind a locked gate or in a yard with a dog.

If you need to keep your gate locked, SRP will provide you with a lock and a key that will permit you to lock your gate but still allow access for SRP's meter reader. Please call (602) 236-8888 for more information.
