SRP DesertWise Water Conservation Expo Saturday

What: SRP, in partnership with West Valley cities, is offering free water-conservation advice as part of the second annual SRP DesertWise Water Conservation Expo. The expo will feature on-site landscape experts to answer questions. Booths featuring SRP energy-efficiency and environmental programs will also be featured along with several vendors with water-saving products or services. Representatives from the the Arizona Municipal Water Users' Association, the Central Arizona Project and the Water Use it Wisely campaign will also attend.

When: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at Glendale Main Library's xeriscape garden, located at 5959 W. Brown St. in Glendale. Landscape classes and green vendor booths will also be available at the Glendale Green Festival, located nearby at the Fruit Packing Shed at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave.
Why: During the expo, SRP electric customers and water shareholders who have pre-registered can purchase Smart Irrigation Controllers for just $143 plus tax, discounted from SRP's cost of $286. The controller, manufactured by Aqua Conserve, has been independently tested by the Irrigation Association's Center for Irrigation Technologies.

The "smart" irrigation controllers, which use weather data to manage outdoor watering schedules more efficiently, are devices that can bring water savings of up to 25 percent. Nearly 400 smart controllers were purchased by households and HOAs at an SRP DesertWise Water Conservation Expo held in Tempe on March 7.

Make a workshop reservation or get more information about the expo or smart controllers. You can also contact SRP at (602) 236-3333.
