11th SRP Water Conservation Expo set for Saturday

Valley residents will learn how to save water and money by participating in the 11th annual SRP Water Conservation Expo, recognized by customers and exhibitors as one of the Valley’s best water-themed events. Over the past 10 years, the SRP Water Expo has grown to become the largest one-day distribution event of Rain Bird "smart" irrigation controllers in the nation.

More about the 2018 Water Expo

Registration is closed, but SRP water and power customers who are interested in learning about water conservation are still invited to attend Saturday's expo. While all smart irrigation controller and module rebate vouchers have been allocated, there may be rebate vouchers available at the expo. There is no guarantee that controllers and/or modules will be available at the rebate price, but attendees can check between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for availability of a controller/module rebate voucher. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to receive a water-efficient Evolve showerhead and learn from exhibitors. Evolve showerheads are available while supplies last.

There will be a variety of activities at Saturday’s free expo for the entire family, including an opportunity to meet Dave the Garden Guy. Also, exhibitors will be presenting information on ways to save water and money, landscape professionals will be on site to provide advice and representatives from several Valley cities will be available to discuss their rebates and water conservation programs. There will also be an interactive snowpack measuring demonstration as well as product demonstrations.

Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the SRP PERA Club,
1 E. Continental Drive in Tempe.

The main draw of the SRP Water Expo is the discount on smart irrigation controllers, but all rebate vouchers have been allocated for this year’s event. The controllers use weather data to automatically determine daily watering run times and, when correctly installed, programmed and maintained, can deliver water savings of at least 20 percent over traditional controllers.

SRP has distributed more than 5,000 smart irrigation controllers at the previous 10 expos. That translates to approximately 525 million gallons of water saved, based on the average household water use of 12,000 gallons per month before installation. About 8,000 customers have attended and received free water conservation information.
