SRP to fund solar systems on school buildings
Solar for Schools program to offset electricity costs for schools
Salt River Project is currently taking applications for the SRP Solar for Schools program, which will fund the installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems on school buildings. SRP will also provide each of the selected schools with materials and training that will enable schools to educate students about solar energy.
In the coming months, SRP will award schools from at least two public school districts in SRP's service territory with new solar photovoltaic systems. In addition, SRP will select schools from two public school districts in eastern Arizona near SRP's Coronado Generating Station, including the towns of St. Johns, Springerville, Eagar and Show Low, to receive new solar photovoltaic systems.
"SRP's goal in educating students about renewable energy is to ensure the curriculum is fresh and stimulating," said Lori Singleton, SRP Manager of Sustainability Initiatives and Technologies. "These systems will allow schools to offset their energy usage while providing a valuable educational tool."
