Shade screens — like sunglasses for your house
Changing up your wardrobe to keep comfortable? You can do the same for your house. Protect your home's interior from the sun's rays while staying comfortable with a shade screen rebate.

Windows can account for nearly 50% of the heat that enters your home. Shade screens are one of the most effective and least expensive ways to boost your home's energy efficiency, especially now with the SRP rebate of $0.80 per square foot.
Program details
- Qualifying shade screens must be installed on sun-struck windows only — west-, south- and east-facing windows — and block at least 80% of the solar heat gain.
- The screens must be installed on the exterior of clear glass windows that enclose an air-conditioned space.
- Applicants must be current SRP residential electric customers with existing homes.
- Applicants must purchase and install new or refurbished, qualifying shade screens with a licensed contractor from May 1, 2011, through April 30, 2012.
How to apply

"I was amazed"
I added solar shade screens and cut my energy use by 25%. Honestly, I was amazed. After installing the screens on 20 windows in my house, I expected to see some savings. But when I looked at my SRP annual usage chart, it showed that I used 25% less energy. I saved energy every month — including the hot summer months.
