Recycle an older refrigerator or freezer to earn $30, save energy and help the environment

Do you have an extra, working refrigerator in your home (perhaps on your patio or in your garage)?

Older fridges and freezers may use more than twice the energy of a new ENERGY STAR® model. You can save up to $100 each year on your energy costs by not running the second appliance.

SRP will pick up your fridge or freezer for free, recycle it (about 95% of each unit) and mail you a check for $30.

By recycling these appliances, you keep reusable items out of landfills and stop up to 10 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

"I knew I did the right thing"

I knew I did the right thing

We had a 20-year-old refrigerator in the garage that cost us a bundle for energy - and couldn't rely on it much longer for my catering business. We were ready to part ways when SRP's Appliance Recycling offer came along. I replaced it with a more efficient ENERGY STAR refrigerator and called SRP to pick up the old one. When I watched the technician disable my old fridge for recycling, I knew I did the right thing.
