Is your home an ENERGY STAR?
Find out

Summer was approaching, and Elizabeth Hill wondered if her home was ready. The Hills, a family of five, had moved into a 5,800-square-foot, two-story Phoenix residence the previous year.

“Last summer it hit me,” Liz said. “We have a big indoor space to cool off. Was there anything we could do to save some money on our electric bill?”

As it turned out, there was a way.

Liz remembered hearing about the SRP Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program. She called and made an appointment for a home checkup.

SRP’s Home Performance program helps homeowners identify improvements that can increase indoor comfort and decrease energy costs.

For just $99 (a $500 value), a participating contractor will assess the energy efficiency of your home from top to bottom. Following the assessment, the contractor will review the results with you, discuss energy-saving opportunities and point out any available discounts and financing offers that can help offset the costs of the improvements.

Then you can decide which improvements to make.

“We were pleased and relieved,” Liz said. “Our home was pretty efficient. The contractor told us that adding insulation in some interior walls could cut energy use.”

The Home Performance program offers an insulation rebate to participants, so the extra insulation was installed at the Hills’ home. Now they can stay cooler and sweat less about the bill this summer.
