About Manual J

Replacing a 10- to 15-year-old unit with a properly sized model can save you as much as 30-40% on your air conditioning bill. The only accurate way to properly size a replacement system is to calculate the actual cooling load by completing a Manual J based load analysis.

Manual J is an industry-accepted method of calculating room-by-room and whole house cooling loads. The analysis takes into account house specific characteristics like orientation of the walls and windows, exterior shading, insulation levels, air leakage, internal sources of heat, such as the heat from cooking and clothes drying, and many other factors. Once your actual cooling requirements are known, your SRP Certified Contractor will be able to recommend the appropriate sized system that meets your needs.
