Time for a heat pump checkup

During the winter, your heat pump is one of your household's largest energy users. That's why it's important to make sure your unit is running properly and efficiently.

For just $59.95 per working unit (not including tax), a licensed, bonded and insured contractors will perform a 16-point checkup on your residential heat pump.

What to expect

  1. Call the SRP Certified Contractor Program at (602) 274-6808 to be referred to a participating contractor.
  2. A contractor will perform a 16-point inspection during the checkup (see list below).
  3. The contractor will provide a summary of the inspection and recommendations for repairs, if necessary, to keep your unit functioning efficiently.
  4. Any repairs performed by the contractor will result in additional cost.

16-point checkup

The SRP heat pump inspection includes the following:

  1. Check the thermostat operation.
  2. Clean filter or replace (customer supplied).
  3. Check system temperature split.
  4. Inspect fused disconnect.
  5. Inspect wiring and tighten electrical connections.
  6. Inspect contactors, relays and pressure controls.
  7. Inspect electrical safety circuits.
  8. Check voltage and amperage to all motors.
  9. Inspect indoor blower and motor for dirt buildup.
  10. Inspect bearings and lubricate all moving parts (as required).
  11. Inspect belt and adjust tension (as required).
  12. Check defrost operation.
  13. Inspect outdoor coil.
  14. Inspect duct seal at unit and secure panels.
  15. Explain and document necessary repairs (if any).
  16. Run and test system.

Note: Inspection for other types of systems will vary.
