SRP PowerWise Homes™ provide a competitive edge

In one of the hottest housing markets in the nation, SRP now provides Phoenix area homebuilders a compelling marketing advantage: SRP PowerWise Homes.

Participation in the SRP PowerWise Homes program:

  • provides participating homebuilders significant market exposure
  • heightens consumer awareness of energy efficient homebuilding techniques, materials and appliances
  • spurs demand for energy efficient homes (as these cutting edge materials and building techniques become standard, the costs will decrease for builders and consumers alike)
  • promotes quality construction throughout your subdivision by offering complimentary home inspections

SRP PowerWise builder

Homes built under SRP PowerWise Homes requirements will be 15.4% more efficient than SRP's previous program (SRP Certified Homes), and 35% more efficient than the federally recognized 1995 Council of American Building Officials Model Energy Code.

A solid investment for your customers

SRP PowerWise Homes require not only high-efficiency heat pumps and furnaces, but also sealing the building envelope – including exterior walls, doors, windows and air distribution ducts – to minimize waste and leakage. The resulting package works together as a total system, specifically designed to drive down energy use.

Energy-efficient homes are more then just a trend. By the end of the decade, more than 2 million homes are expected to earn an energy-efficient rating similar to the SRP PowerWise program. By choosing to construct an energy efficient home, you can help meet our valley’s demand to promote energy efficiency.

How to participate

To participate in the SRP PowerWise Homes program, builders must submit architectural plans, including materials and specifications, to a designated SRP PowerWise Homes account manager. The builder or air conditioning contractor must also supply SRP with the Manual-J calculations used to size the heat pumps or air-conditioning units to be installed.

Each account manager is a Certified Home Energy Rater, as recognized by the National Association of State Energy Officials and the Residential Energy Services Network. Account managers will perform computer simulations of the information provided to determine the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score for each model of home to be offered. HERS is a nationally standardized system for rating and comparing the energy efficiency of residential buildings.
