Buying energy-efficient appliances
Keep energy-efficiency in mind as you shop for new appliances, and be sure to look for the ENERGY STAR® label. SRP has partnered with ENERGY STAR to offer customers energy-saving solutions to help you save money and protect the environment.
The ENERGY STAR label is now on major appliances, office equipment, lighting, home electronics and new homes. If you're looking for new household products, turn to the ones that have earned the ENERGY STAR label. They meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy. The next time you shop, look for the ENERGY STAR label at participating retailers.
ENERGY STAR-qualified heat pumps and air conditioners use 20% less
energy than new standard models. Plus, replacing
a 10 to 15-year-old unit with a properly sized
model can save as much as 30-40% on your air
conditioning bill.
NOTE: Seek advice from a qualified contractor
who has Manual J training. They will be able to
determine what level of efficiency and size of
system is right for your home.- ENERGY STAR-qualified refrigerator models use at least 20% less energy than required by current federal standards and 40% less energy than conventional models sold in 2001.
- Recycle an older refrigerator or freezer to earn $30, save energy and help the environment.
- ENERGY STAR-qualified clothes washers can save you up to $110 annually
on your utility bills compared to models purchased
before 1994.
- You can save more than $25 a year in energy costs by replacing dishwasher models manufactured before 1994 with ENERGY STAR-qualified units.
