Quail-Shipley 69kV project
SRP has selected the route for the Quail-Shipley 69,000-volt (69-kV) power line in your community.
The route was selected based upon input from residents, property owners and developers. SRP engineers considered a variety of
factors in our final route selection, including future electrical needs, construction feasibility, maintainability and cost.
The new line starts at the Quail substation, runs south on Quail Run Lane, turns east to run along Judd Road and connects to the
future Shipley substation. Typically, new 69-kV lines are built on a mix of steel and wood poles about 65 feet tall.

SRP held an open house to discuss
this project June 21, 2007 in Queen Creek.
During the Open House, SRP employees who specialize
in planning, engineering and land management were
present to answer questions from residents. Additional information and displays about our
plans for the area were available.
SRP anticipates continued customer growth in northern Pinal County. To ensure you have reliable power,
we must build new lines and substations.
As always, we strive to provide the community with advance notice of new substations and subtransmission lines, and provide
opportunities for the public to offer input on these new facilities.
The Quail-Shipley line will be built by spring 2010; residents will be notified in advance of construction.
This new 69-kV line will ensure your neighborhood continues to receive the service our customers have grown to expect.
Typically, new 69kV lines are built on a mix of steel and wood poles, about 65-75 feet tall.
The 69kV subtransmission network serves as the backbone of SRP's neighborhood electrical system. These power lines interconnect the neighborhood substations, providing system redundancy and added reliability. Our 69kV lines can be found along almost any linear feature that serves as a transportation corridor, including major arterial streets, canals, freeways and railroads.
Whether we are providing for the needs of a new community, subdivision or business park, or meeting the enhancement needs of an existing neighborhood, SRP's goal remains constant: provide the low-cost, reliable electricity that you have come to expect from us.
