Commercial design and construction project guidelines
This guide was developed to help you and SRP work together to meet your power needs in establishing electric service in SRP service area.
To schedule an appointment, call the SRP Commercial Customer Service Call Center at (602) 236-8833. You will be directed to the person responsible for the area of your project. To assist you with your planning, a copy of SRP's Electric Service Specifications (ESS) manual is available by:
- Downloading an electronic ESS manual;
- Visiting any SRP Business Office; or
- Contacting the Commercial New Business office - in the East Valley (602) 236-6151 or West Valley (602) 236-0690.
A Distribution Design Consultant will be assigned to your project to step you through the design, construction, and schedule process. The Design Consultant will request from you all of the necessary information required to complete the design for electric service for your project. The Design Consultant will be your point of contact to assist you throughout the duration of your project.
The Distribution Design Consultant will review your project's commercial service schedule and work with you to meet the requirements for SRP to complete a design for your project. Please refer to the forms below:
The Distribution Design Consultant will keep you informed of any additional requirements for SRP design and provide you with a schedule for completed preliminary and final design drawings.
Once you receive the SRP construction drawings:
- Check your design prints.
- If your design prints meet your requirements, call SRP Inspections in the East Valley at (602) 236-6300 or West Valley at (602) 236-0676 to schedule a pre-construction meeting. A pre-construction meeting ensures the proper coordination with SRP throughout the construction phase of your project.
The SRP job design will detail customer and SRP construction responsibilities. In most commercial applications, the customer is responsible for trenching, conduit, conduit installation, backfill, and equipment pad(s). If other (TELCO, CATV) utilities wish to occupy the same trench, you will need to contact them in advance. The SRP construction drawings will also have information regarding the inspection process of SRP electric facilities.
When your project nears completion of the electric facilities trench and conduit, let your Distribution Design Consultant know so that SRP construction can be scheduled as soon as practical to meet your project's energization date.
