SRP in-service for educators
SRP provides workshops and comprehensive in-service programs for Arizona educators. Our goal is to equip educators with key insights and proven classroom resources related to the water and energy industries. Educators who participate in our programs will be expertly prepared to teach students about water, electricity and renewable energy technologies.
All of SRP's in-service programs and supporting materials are available free of charge. Workshops can be scheduled throughout the school year. Please call (602) 236-2798, or send an e-mail, to arrange campus-based in-services.

What: Celebrate Water in Arizona History in-service *New for 2011!
Who should attend: Educators who teach grades K-12
Time commitment: 2 hours
Summary: Arizona is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2012. But did you know that even before Arizona became a state, people in this territory battled against each other and with nature over one particularly precious commodity — water? SRP began in the water business back in those days before statehood, building Theodore Roosevelt Dam, which was completed in 1911. This year, SRP is celebrating this feat and important landmark in our state, 100 years ago, with a special curriculum and workshop devoted to learning about the role water has played in Arizona's history. Participants will receive free materials, including videos, booklets, posters, and more! Access the materials now at srpnet.com/celebratewater.
What: Arizona Water Story in-service
Who should attend: Educators who teach grades 4-8
Time commitment: 2 hours
Summary: Although oceans cover 70% of the Earth's surface, only 3% of that seemingly inexhaustible supply is freshwater, with only 1% considered usable freshwater. SRP offers an in-service primer about the desert's most precious resource. Workshop topics include central Arizona water history, water management concepts, environmental water issues and water science. Participants will receive water resource materials and a video.
What: Water Chemistry – Why Is Chemistry Important to Phoenix?

Time commitment: 2-5 hours
Summary: This workshop, taught by SRP scientists, explores topics of where we get our water from; how pH, chlorine, and hardness interact in raw water; what to do when water gets polluted; the water treatment process; and how chemistry is used every day by SRP and cities in order to provide safe drinking water for those of us who live in the Valley.
What: Basics of Electricity in-service
