Applied Science Grants by SRP application criteria
To apply for an Applied Science Grant by SRP, please review the following criteria and
respond to the questions when submitting your proposal. All criteria and information must be included in your proposal to give you the best chance for consideration of funding.
- Project title
The title should reflect the working model or display of the project.
- Project description and timeline
Describe the activities and goals of your proposed project. What do you wish to accomplish? Does your project demonstrate practical application of scientific principles and show evidence of student hands-on involvement? What is the timeline for this project?
- Student impact
What is the potential number of students involved and positively impacted by the project/program? What grade levels will benefit? What are student learning outcomes? Describe how this project motivates students' interest in science.
- Creativity
How is your project different than others? Describe how it is an innovative approach to teaching state mandated competencies. Does your project incorporate unique ways of applying science to technology?
- Benefit to school/community/environment
How will your proposed program/project benefit the school, community or environment?
- Budget
How will the grant be spent? What will individual components of the program cost? Materials? Staff? Are you seeking financing from additional sources? Please itemize estimated expenditures.
- Evaluation process
How do you plan to evaluate the relative success of the project? What objective measures will be used to assess the program's accomplishments?
Schools receiving grants for the 2007-08 school year should have a completed project by May 30, 2008.
Grant recipients are also required to deliver a financial report and objective results summary at the end of the grant year. The report must state how the granted funds were used. In the report, the grant recipients must evaluate the success of the project. Were goals and objectives met? How many students were
affected and what was the impact?

The report is due the first week of June 2008. If the entire grant amount has not been expended by this time, please explain why not, and how the remaining portion of the grant will be used in the future. In addition, SRP personnel will conduct on-site visits to review the program/project for which the grant was given.
The PST comprises master educators, SRP's Community Outreach education staff, the Contributions Administrator and SRP management. With regard to selection of grant recipients, PST's decision is final, based solely on information provided in the proposal.
The application deadline for 2008-09 grants has passed. Grants will be awarded soon. Please check back to this page in November 2008 for information about the 2009-10 application process.
