DesertWise Home promotes water-efficient features in new home construction
SRP is offering incentives to qualifying builders who incorporate water-saving
features in their model homes. These funds are limited and will be dispersed on
a first-come, first-served basis. Requirements to participate in this program are
as follows.
Requirements for model homes
Subdivision requirements
- Homes must be located within the ten municipalities SRP supplies water to (Avondale,
Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Tolleson) or
within SRP's electric service
territory.
- Builder must have a minimum of 50 home sites.
Interior requirements
- Water-saving showerheads (2.5 gallons per minute aerated water flow)*
- Low-flow faucets (2.5 gallons per minute aerated water flow)*
- Low-flow toilets (1.6 gallons per flush – gpf)*
Exterior requirements
Incentives for model homes
SRP will provide up to $2,500 per model home (up to three model homes per subdivision)
to offset the cost of incorporating additional features such as those listed below.
- Weather-based irrigation controller
- High Efficiency Toilets (HETs)-a fixture that flushes at 20% below the 1.6 gpf
(dual-flush or one gallon toilets)
- High efficiency clothes washer (has a water factor of 9.5 or less)
- Gray water stub
- Synthetic turf
- Low-water-use dishwashers (uses 6.5 gallons or less per cycle)
- Hot water circulation pumps
- Under-sink water heaters
- Rainwater harvesting
- Soil moisture sensors
- Other - consult with SRP to see if other water-conserving features you offer qualify.
Simply provide documentation that you incorporated one or more of these features and
SRP will reimburse you for the first $2,500 in costs associated with including these
features. This $2,500 incentive is in addition to the irrigation controller.

If you are selected to receive this incentive, you will also receive:
- DesertWise Home signage identifying plants, fixtures, and incentive items for model homes
- Brochures on desert landscaping, Valley water management and other conservation related
topics are provided for distribution in model homes.
