SRP wins Points of Light honor for a second time

SRP received the coveted Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs for 2007, one of the world's highest and most distinguished awards for community and volunteer service. It was was bestowed by the Points of Light Foundation based in Washington, D.C.

SRP previously received the award in 2000 and is one of a few companies worldwide to have received the honor twice.

"The awards honor those companies that have made a serious commitment to the community and have made their employee and retiree volunteer efforts a central part of their operations, enjoying strong support at the highest level of management in the company," said Ancilla Chopskie, Director of Business Services for the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, which sponsors the awards program.

More than 85% of SRP employees participate in community programs, volunteering an average of 3.3 hours per week, which translates into thousands of dollars worth of labor in service to the community.

The Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs is considered the premier international recognition for corporate community relations and employee volunteerism given by the Points of Light Foundation. In addition to SRP, former President George H.W. Bush presented the Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs to:
