Time Well Spent
Association Of Arizona Food Banks
Hunger is a problem few of us are ever confronted with, but one that is all too real for many families. Fortunately, there are many organizations actively working to feed those in need. The individual efforts of each group are impressive, yet a synergy is achieved when their efforts are combined.
The Association of Arizona Food Banks coordinates the procurement, transportation and distribution of food to six regional food bank warehouses, serving more than 1,200 food pantries and human services agencies statewide. While SRP employees frequently volunteer in local food banks, we also are proud to assist the Association with the Arizona Statewide Gleaning Project, which coordinates the rescue of produce that otherwise would go to waste. The program has provided more than 689 million pounds of food since it began in 1993.
While our lives seem to center around the family table during the holidays, the Association of Arizona Food Banks, through the support of partners like SRP, is helping ensure those in need are remembered year-round.
