When students begin planning their future careers, they often find that if their pursuits are
"non-traditional," scholarship assistance can be hard to find. On the Navajo Nation in Northern
Arizona, where SRP operates the
Navajo Generating Station (NGS), this
is a need that is being addressed on an individual basis.
The Navajo Youth Achievement Fund was created to assist high achieving students
pursue leadership enhancement, vocational, artistic, and educational opportunities that
fall outside the realm of traditional scholarships.
Each year, NGS helps raise more than $10,000 to support the fund, which provides needed
resources to students on the reservation who then can begin turning their dreams into a more
promising future for their community.
