Time Well Spent
San Tan Veterans Memorial
The Fourth of July is a time when we think of our nation and the freedom we enjoy. For many, it also is a time to reflect upon the men and women who put themselves in harm's way to defend our country and our way of life.
In Pinal County, volunteers with the San Tan Mountains Pride Association, a group supporting the San Tan Mountains Regional Park and adjacent natural areas, wished to build a memorial to Arizonans who lost their lives while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The effort received assistance from SRP in an unusual form - a steel power pole. Supporting a massive American flag, the pole towers some 70 feet above the desert floor, serving as a reminder that the freedoms we hold so dear were paid for with our nation's sons and daughters.
