Solar power will play an important role in Arizona's future – a future where today's
students will be tomorrow's solar pioneers. SRP's
Applied Science Grants help
educators provide math and science learning experiences that have an immediate
and productive impact on students.
The students of Fountain Hills High School participated in just such a program. With SRP's
financial assistance, the students were able to purchase and integrate a 1 kilowatt hydrogen
fuel cell into the school district's existing solar power system. This project allowed students
not only to learn about and utilize emerging technologies in a real world environment, they then
reported their findings on outcomes and efficiencies to the school board.
As SRP integrates emerging technologies into our sustainable portfolio, we are especially pleased
to support the next generation of scientists and engineers as they gain invaluable hands-on
experience in addressing environmental issues and energy challenges through an advanced curriculum.
