Time Well Spent
Habitat For Humanity
If ever a place was suited for harnessing the power of the sun, it is Arizona. Long a supporter of Habitat for Humanity's mission to provide well-built housing for low income families, SRP was proud to help make solar power available to these families, as well.
Eighteen new Habitat for Humanity Valley of the Sun homes in the Pinal County city of Apache Junction will have solar power thanks to SRP's EarthWise Energy program. By paying a small premium on their electric bill, customers who participate in EarthWise Energy fund a variety of renewable energy projects in the community. SRP offers a diverse mix of renewable
resources including solar, wind, landfill gas, geothermal and low-impact hydro power. In addition to building materials donated by SRP, we provided each of the 18 Habitat homes a 3-kilowatt photovoltaic system, reducing monthly electric bills for the homeowner by approximately 30 to 40 percent. One of the homes was even built by SRP volunteers.
For Habitat families, the power of the sun is matched only by the power of caring.
