Preserving Arizona's heritage
For the past quarter century, the SRP Heritage Exhibits and Consulting group has helped to preserve and document the cultural heritage of Arizona, the Sonoran Desert and the Salt River Valley.
SRP has a proud past. We share our knowledge and resources with the public and business communities in the following ways:
SRP's roots reach back more than 100 years into Arizona's past. During that time, we've become a repository with a vast artifact collection extensive archive of photographs and film footage of historic Arizona.
Our staff is knowledgeable about state history and can provide research support and images to academics, students and historians for a thesis, paper, documentary or other endeavor. Items include:
- Historic photographs - include scenes related to water management, power facilities and people, as well as postcards.
- Documents - papers related to SRP, the Salt River Valley and Arizona pioneers.
- Kelley Collection - approximately 350 artifacts containing ceramics, stone tools, organic materials and shell jewelry.
- Midvale Collection - approximately 25 artifacts containing ceramics and stone implements.
- SRP Collection - approximately 35 artifacts containing ceramics, stone tools and shell jewelry.
- SRP historical artifacts - from the grinding wheel used to crush rocks for the building of Roosevelt Dam to insulators and early equipment used at SRP.
