Corporate contributions guidelines
SRP is a multipurpose reclamation project serving electric customers and water shareholders in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Named for the major river that supplies water to the region, SRP is the nation's third-largest public utility and one of the largest water suppliers in central Arizona's Salt River Valley. SRP provides electricity to more than 900,000 customers and delivers water to eight cities as well as agricultural and urban irrigators.
The mission of the SRP Corporate Contributions program is to impact the company's reputation in the community positively and consistently and to help make it a better place to live and do business for our customers and employees. We are committed to strengthening the company's core business objectives in all our activities.
SRP will focus its corporate contributions on consistent and meaningful involvement in community issues and programs in the areas of:
We know that the leaders of tomorrow and our future employees are being created by the educational environmental of today.
- Increase the quality of math and science education provided to students in grades K-12 though development of Highly Qualified Teachers and supporting "train the trainer" programs for educators.
- Prepare teachers to better equip students for higher education by encourage student success in physical science, engineering or environmental science through enrichment activities and access to technology.
- Develop job readiness and employment skills for high-school students.
- Assist educators to implement programs that highlight the wise use of water and electricity as important resources.
Please note: Contributions for specific school-related projects are reviewed via the SRP Classroom Connections program. This program provides funds for enrichment activities, classroom technology and science equipment.

We want to do business in thriving communities. Therefore, we support art programs that enhance the quality of life in communities where we do business.
- Sponsor major professional arts organizations and regional presenters of arts programming.
- Support of local performing art organizations that reflect the diversity of SRP's service area.

We are committed to safe and healthy communities.
- Support programs that reach out to underserved communities to promote the individual's ability to overcome barriers and be self-sufficient.
- Increase the community's ability to care for individuals who are in need of food, shelter, and safety from violent or crisis situations.
- Increase the ability of children to participate in youth programs which promote personal development and positive life choices.
- Support increasing underserved communities' access to hospitals and medical care as an integral part of a thriving community.
- Sponsor programs that seek to highlight the never ceasing need for water and electric safety.
We support civic involvement in communities where we do business.
- Increase the local community's ability to identify and train local residents to serve in leadership positions. We give preference to programs that heighten civic leadership and provide opportunity for SRP employees to engage.
- Sponsor select special community events that promote pride in our diverse communities.
- Support community forums which enhance the quality of life through discussion of emerging issues and strategic planning.

We believe in stewardship of Arizona's natural resources and protecting the water and air quality of our state.
- Increase the ability of residents to improve the environmental quality of their neighborhoods.
- Support programs that promote the awareness and understanding of technical environmental issues.

- Individuals, including support for specific students, researchers, travel expenses, conference fees.
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, or national origin.
- Endowment programs.
- Medical research projects or medical procedures for individuals.
- Professional schools of art, academic art programs, individual high school or college performing groups.
- Political or lobbying groups or campaigns.
- Fraternal organizations, veterans' organizations, professional associations, and similar membership groups.
- Organizations whose services are not provided in a geographic area where SRP provides electric or water service or employment.
- Public or commercial broadcasting programs.
- Religious activities or church-sponsored programs limited to church membership.
- Debt-reduction campaigns.
- Under no circumstances will SRP donate service (water, electricity) or equipment or services for which a fee is normally charged.
Please note: due to the volume of requests we receive, as well as the specific information SRP requires to fund a proposal, form letters and e-mail requests are routinely discarded and will not receive a response.

Before you apply, please note the following:
- Eligible organizations must be nonprofit, tax-exempt public charities as defined in Sections 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Grants are made on annual basis, and organizations may reapply for funding assistance annually.
- There are no specific grant deadlines. Contribution requests are reviewed in an on-going process, there is no specific deadline. The review process typically takes eight weeks.
Please follow the steps below to apply for a corporate contribution:
Step 1: Prepare a concise proposal
Each proposal should contain the following information:
- A brief description of the organization's mission.
- A statement of the intended results of the proposed project, as well as how it will be evaluated, to assess the accountability of the organization in relation to its mission.
- The annual budget or the total cost of the project, other sources and level of funding, and the amount requested from SRP.
- A statement describing community support of an involvement in the organization and/or project.
- A current income and expense budget and the most recently audited financial statement, and a copy of the Internal Revenue Service letter of designation as a publicly supported, tax-exempt organization. If an audited financial statement is not available, a compiled financial statement is acceptable.
- A copy of the most recent IRS Form 990 submitted with complete information.
- A list of those serving on the board of directors, including their affiliations.
- A statement of what significance this project will have to recipients and the total community.
- A statement that includes the exact name of the payee of a potential grant, e.g., "check should be made payable to [entity name]" and full mailing address.
Step 2: Complete an IRS form W-9
Each proposal must include a completed W-9 form.
