Safety and security of SRP facilites
America's war against world terrorism brings home the added importance of
safety and security in our communities.
As a major electricity and water supplier to the Valley, SRP operates many power
facilities and dams that today require increased protective measures. As a result,
SRP has increased safeguards at power and water facilities and operations centers.
Public access to SRP power and water facilities is restricted and in some cases has
been suspended. Additional personnel provide onsite security and patrol zones
around local and regional facilities.
While there have been no credible reports of terrorism in Arizona or specific threats
directed at SRP, we encourage our neighbors and friends to stay alert and immediately
report to local authorities any suspicious activities near or around SRP facilities, including
canals, substations, generating plants and well sites.
In these changing times, SRP wishes to assure our customers and other Valley residents
that we take every necessary measure to ensure safe and secure power and
water supplies for the Valley. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation
in this effort.
SRP salutes the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001, and the efforts of the men and women
who put themselves in harm's way every day to serve our communities and protect
our country.
