The Snowflake White Mountain Biomass Power Plant generates 24 megawatts of electricity through a wood-burning boiler. For fuel, it uses forest thinning remains, wood-waste material from the area’s forest industries and recycled paper fibers from a paper mill located adjacent to the biomass facility.

The plant began operating in June 2008.
